Sooo… I started a Substack?
Intro
No one teaches you how to think. In all of high school and even college and then on a job, it’s all about how to complete a task to the best of your ability. So, I realized I have to teach myself. But the people who we see on the news or in public, they seem like they have it all figured out.
This Substack is to track my progression of learning how to do that. And hopefully, if you stick around, you get to see how it works (or maybe just make fun of me for my lack of progress, either way is totally fine. I’m a college student so I’m used to it from professors anyways).
I want to focus this on culture, especially film, because it really is the culmination of public thought and creativity distilled into a two hour visual medium that is just so magical.
I know improving means hearing feedback, and I’m very much ready to be ripped into shreds. But more than anything, I hope this becomes a space where ideas grow and become more of a conversation about the thoughts that keep circling in my head and see where they go from here.

You can expect a mix of essays, reflections, and cultural deep dives mostly centered on film and the ideas that spill out of it. I’ll be posting about once a week, sometimes more if something catches my attention. Some posts will be more essay like and others more conversational, but overall I want this to be a place to gather and work through ideas about film and the world we’re living in right now.
